Biography

Adaorah Azotam, Ph.D., APRN, PNP-PC, is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department at Children’s Health℠. She provides safe, compassionate care for children and adolescents while also preparing future health care providers through nursing education.

“I am passionate about caring for children and adolescents because early interventions can influence health outcomes across the lifespan,” Azotam says. “As both a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and nurse educator, I have the unique opportunity to impact pediatric health directly through clinical practice and indirectly through the preparation of future health care providers.”

Dr. Azotam earned her Master of Science in Nursing through the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care program at Villanova University. She also earned her Ph.D. in Nursing Education from Villanova University.

Her research focuses on improving child health and well-being. Key areas of interest include pediatric health equity and injury prevention, recognizing and reporting child maltreatment, trauma-informed care, human trafficking education, simulation-based nursing education, advanced practice nursing competency development, adolescent parenting and health information technology. Her scholarly work has also examined pediatric traumatic brain injuries related to golf cart use, trauma-informed simulation training, child maltreatment reporting practices and issues related to pediatric consent.

“My interests in child advocacy, trauma-informed care and provider education are driven by a desire to ensure that all children receive safe, equitable and compassionate care,” Azotam says.

Outside of medicine, Azotam enjoys spending time with family, traveling, binge watching true crime documentaries, and attending live music events.
