Biography

Amy L. McIntosh, M.D. is a Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at Children’s Health℠ and Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her specialties include spinal conditions (scoliosis, kyphosis), spinal trauma, and upper/lower extremity trauma or fractures in the lower and upper body (including stress fractures and pelvic fractures). 

Dr. McIntosh earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed her residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and her fellowship in orthopaedic surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. 

Dr. McIntosh has helped advance the field of pediatric orthopaedic surgery through research on early onset scoliosis, limb reconstruction, hip disorders and ankle fractures. She has also widely lectured on topics ranging from spinal surgery to the use of vitamin D for optimal healing after a fracture. Dr. McIntosh has served in several leadership roles with the Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and the National Scoliosis Research Society.

Helping a child heal and get back to their normal routine after an injury is very rewarding. My favorite part is when I get to give them the green light to return to the activities they did before they were injured. That is always a great day.”

Outside of work, Dr. McIntosh loves spending time with family and friends, skiing, traveling and trying new foods.
