Biography

Dustin Loveland, M.D., is a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Children’s Health℠ and serves as the Surgical Director and Chief at the Children’s Health Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. He also serves as team physician for Prosper High School and Walnut Grove High school and assistant team physician for FC Dallas. He specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical management of sports injuries and fractures.

“As a former high school athlete myself, I am passionate about helping kids play sports, not letting injuries stop them in their tracks – and learning how to prevent future injuries,” he says.

Dr. Loveland earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Miami. He also holds an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.

Upon completing his residency, Dr. Loveland trained as a sports medicine fellow with the world-renowned surgeon James Andrews, M.D. – the man the Children’s Health Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is named after.

Dr. Loveland’s research interests include cartilage restoration and development of a novel anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction registry. He regularly presents his research at national and international conferences. He also serves in leadership roles in the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).

Outside of work, Dr. Loveland channels his passion into Reaching Our Community's Kids (ROCK), a nonprofit he co-founded that empowers teens through mentorship. ROCK guides young people toward healthy choices, academic success and the confidence to reach their full potential.
