Biography

Grayce joined Children’s Medical Center Dallas in October 2015, bringing with her 23 years’ experience as a Physician Assistant, which includes seven years in the field of Bariatric Surgery combined with three years of Cosmetic surgery experience. She has provided direct patient care for thousands of Bariatric patients during her career, in both the clinic and hospital setting. She has extensive intraoperative first-assist experience in laparoscopic primary and revision Bariatric procedures. Her unique cosmetic surgery experience allowed her to advance her post-op wound closure and intraoperative wound repair skills. This allows her to help achieve optimal cosmetic wound outcome for her patients after surgery. In cooperation with Dr. Faisal Qureshi and other interdisciplinary staff, she helped launch the new Adolescent Bariatric Surgery program at Children’s Health.

Her current position combines both inpatient and outpatient clinical and administrative duties. These include assisting in new patient surgical assessments, education, and post-operative visits. She also first-assists in the operating room, and performs subsequent daily patient care and monitoring until the patients are discharged home. Grayce also works in an administrative position, both independently and in cooperation with other medical disciplines to help improve the outcome of our Bariatric patients. She performs presentations to providers and staff to help guide patient management and referral. She also assists schedulers and other providers in coordinating patient workup requirements in preparation for surgery. Most recently, she partnered with a new technology company to help develop a template for their software system, specifically tailored to the Bariatric surgical patient’s needs. The system employs an embedded Wi-Fi and Bluetooth system to help create a first-of-its-kind at home patient monitoring for our Bariatric surgery patients.

Children’s Health℠ is the first Adolescent Bariatric surgery program in the country to utilize this technology. She is passionate about helping her patients reach their weight loss goals, and feels honored to be a part of their positive, life-changing experience. She believes in working side-by-side with her patients and their families to improve their health, and educates them at each visit on how to best meet their individual needs. The effectiveness of Bariatric surgery for obese teens is underscored shortly after surgery, as her patients experience a resolution of their obesity-related health problems and associated medications.

Grayce is a graduate of UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Physician Assistant program in Dallas. She is board-certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants, and licensed by the state of Texas. She is a also a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American Academy of Surgical Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants.
