I love that in immunology, we have the opportunity to build strong relationships with patients and their families.
Dr. Zomer Bolaños

“I believe that to deliver great care to all patients means recognizing that compassion, empathy, and respect are just as vital as medical expertise. In practice, this involves actively listening to patients, addressing their concerns with genuine empathy, and ensuring that their dignity is upheld in every interaction.”

Dr. Zomer Bolaños earned her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Ciencias Médicas (UCIMED) in Costa Rica. She then completed her residency in Pediatrics at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and her fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.

Dr. Zomer Bolaños is actively involved in research that aims to improve our understanding of immune system disorders and develop more effective treatments. Her research interests include investigating anaphylaxis, asthma and vaccine responses in patients with immunodeficiencies.

“I love that in immunology, we have the opportunity to build strong relationships with patients and their families. It's a specialty that touches on many aspects of the patient’s life, and I find it incredibly dynamic and exciting because it continues to evolve rapidly."

Outside of work, Dr. Zomer Bolaños enjoys baking, dancing and spending time with my family.
