Biography

John W. Ibrahim, M.D., is a Neonatologist at Children’s Health℠ and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern. He specializes in bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), ECMO, quality improvement in neonatal care and point-of-care ultrasound.

“I strive to maintain excellent communication with families, recognizing they are an integral part of every care plan,” he says. “The joy of seeing families celebrate bringing their neonates home from the NICU is the most gratifying part of my work.”

Dr. Ibrahim earned his medical degree from Ain Shams University. He went on to complete a residency in Clinical Pathology at Ain Shams University Hospital, followed by training in Critical Care Medicine at Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo, Egypt and a Pediatrics residency at NYU Langone Hospital in Long Island. He then completed a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr Ibrahim joins Children’s Health after being at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for seven years.

Dr. Ibrahim’s research interests include ECMO, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, implementation sciences and quality improvement in neonatal care.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, visiting museums and running across trials.
