Biography
Kaitlin Batley, M.D., is a Pediatric Neurologist and the Director of the Pediatric Neuromuscular Disease Program at Children’s Health℠. She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at UT Southwestern. She has a special interest in caring for children with neuromuscular disorders including muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and myasthenia gravis.
“My team uses the latest research and innovative therapies such as gene therapies to make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives,” she says.
Dr. Batley earned her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She then completed residencies in Pediatrics and Child Neurology followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Neuromuscular Medicine at UT Southwestern, through the Neurology Service at Children's Medical Center.
As the Director of the Pediatric Neuromuscular Program, Dr. Batley is passionate about providing the best possible care for children with neuromuscular disorders. She leads a multidisciplinary center that is certified by advocacy groups such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, Cure SMA and the CMT Association. She is actively involved in research including clinical trials and natural history studies to advance our knowledge and treatment of neuromuscular disorders.
Dr. Batley is also passionate about advocacy and education. Her team has implemented family workshops that provide information for kids with neuromuscular disorders and their families. These workshops are also an opportunity for these families to come together and build community in North Texas.
Outside of work, Dr. Batley enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, travelling (they have a goal to visit all the national parks one day) and cycling.
