Biography

Sari Hochberger Bar, D.O., FAAP, serves as the Medical Director of the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics clinic and the Down Syndrome Clinic at Children’s Health℠. She specializes in caring for children with a variety of behavior problems, developmental delays and learning challenges. Dr. Bar is dually board-certified in general pediatrics and developmental-behavioral pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Bar is passionate about delivering evidence-based care and supporting each patient. She is also an Associate Professor at UT Southwestern. She joined the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at UT Southwestern and Children's Health in 2017.

Dr. Bar received her medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed her pediatric residency and fellowship training in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine at Cohen Children's Medical Center in New York.

As a specialty pediatrician, Dr. Bar’s experience enhances the field of developmental-behavioral pediatrics. She is a sought-after invited lecturer speaking on topics such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: Neurodevelopmental Outcomes of Prenatal Alcohol Exposure and Developmental Milestones and Red Flags.

She has numerous published peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed scientific and medical publications. Her research is varied and includes discoveries in the fields of Down syndrome and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Most recently, Dr. Bar submitted for publication her research on Quality of Life Among Caregivers of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Her most recent publication in the World Journal of Pediatrics featured the Relationship between parent perception of child anthropometric phenotype and body mass index change among children with developmental disabilities. She has also published work in the Journal of Pediatric Nursing on the impact of developmental behavioral pediatrics in a population of children with Down syndrome.

As a fellow, she was recognized for her research by the American Academy of Pediatrics and Northwell Health. The Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics also honored her as a research scholar.

Dr. Bar serves on the Physician Liaison Advisory Board for the Family Connects Texas, North Texas Region. She is involved in many hospital committees at both UTSouthwestern and Children’s Health. Dr. Bar is dedicated to teaching the next generation of physicians by engaging in teaching and committee positions for pediatric residents and fellows training in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics. She is also involved on a national level with strong involvement in the Down syndrome Medical Interest Group (DSMIG-USA).  

In her free time, Dr. Bar enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and three children.
