Biography

Zachary Most, M.D. is an Infectious Disease Specialist and the Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Children's Health℠. He is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern. Dr. Most treats a wide-spectrum of patients including those with HIV, cystic fibrosis (CF), immunocompromise, and those with no prior medical conditions. Dr. Most has a special interest in pediatric infectious diseases, health care associated infections and respiratory viral infections. 

“Infectious diseases in children range from common mild illness to severe life-threatening diseases,” he says. “Figuring out what disease is making a child sick and administering the correct treatment can be challenging. Despite the challenge, there is no greater honor than helping to improve the health of ill children.”

Dr. Most completed medical school at the University of Miami. He then completed his residency in pediatrics at UT Southwestern - Children's Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Most also has a master’s degree in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. 

Actively involved in research, Dr. Most is working to better understand how respiratory viral infections spread in the community and in health care settings, and how we can use novel surveillance system as early warning systems for respiratory virus epidemics. Dr. Most also serves on national committees for the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 

Outside of work, Dr. Most enjoys running, basketball, tennis, reading and spending time with his wife and two children.

There is no greater honor than helping to improve the health of ill children.
