ABA helps children and families learn how to manage behavioral challenges that often accompany autism. For example, ABA behavioral therapy can teach parents how to increase behaviors like listening and following directions and decrease negative behaviors like tantrums.

Children’s Health℠ is home to specialists in ABA. We can help your child address communication challenges, improve social skills and decrease disruptive behavior. Our ABA therapy for children is approved as a best practice by industry leaders like the U.S. Surgeon General and the American Psychological Association.

A compassionate pediatric ABA program for your child

Our pediatric ABA program for children works with the whole family. Our applied behavior analysis services include:

ABA testing and evaluations

Proper ABA testing and evaluation helps us match your child with the services that can best help them. We perform a variety of behavioral therapy assessments to better understand your child’s needs. For example, an important tool our experts use is direct behavioral observations and parent/family interviews. Through age-appropriate play, our specialists will evaluate a child’s social, emotional and communication skills. Our board-certified behavior analysts are dedicated to providing the best therapy plan for your child.

Early intervention clinic

The Early Intervention Clinic is dedicated to caring for children with autism from 18-months to 7-years old. Our specialists follow the best practices in developmental psychology and the principles of applied behavioral analysis for autism to help young children thrive.

Focused outpatient clinic

The Focused Outpatient Clinic is a unique service that can add to your child’s other treatments or serve as a stand-alone treatment, depending on their needs. While at clinic, you and your child can expect:

  • 1:1 direct therapy
  • Follow-up and assessment needs
  • Parent advice, guidance and training
  • School collaboration
  • Treatment of a specific or focused behavior
  • Treatment options while waiting for more intensive services

Expanding access to care

As of February 2022, Texas covers ABA under Medicaid. Unfortunately, Children’s Health ABA program does not currently accept Medicaid although there are hopes to do so in the future. Our team takes extra steps to get these families the care they need by providing outpatient services.

Working closely with the UT Southwestern and Children's Health Center for Autism Care

As part of the Center for Autism Care, we make sure your child has access to all the care they need. Our patients may work with psychiatrists, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapists who collaborate and address all aspects of your child’s health.
