Where to Park for Surgery

When you arrive at Children’s Health, you can choose valet or self-parking.

Valet parking is available at the Children's Medical Center main entrance off Medical District Drive.

Self-parking is located across from the hospital’s main entrance in the parking lot formerly known as Green Park.

To get to the hospital from the garage, take the elevator or stairs to the 1st floor and then cross the sky bridge to reach the main hospital entrance.

Check-in

When you reach the main entrance, please check in with our front desk. You will need:

  1. Photo I.D.
  2. Insurance Card
  3. Paperwork indicating legal guardianship, if applicable

Two adult visitors are allowed to accompany the patient. Please do not enter the hospital if you are ill.

How do I prepare my child for their procedure?

We’ll send you specific preparation instructions via MyChart that might include fasting or not drinking liquids after a certain time. We’ll also give you a call about one week before your child’s procedure to review these instructions, answer any questions you may have and discuss the arrival time for your child’s procedure.

What do I need to bring?

  • Please leave jewelry and any valuables at home.
  • If your child wears contact lenses, bring solution and a case.
  • Pack a favorite blanket, pillow, toy or stuffed animal. Your child will be allowed to take this to their surgery/procedure.
  • If your child has a favorite bottle or cup, please bring it with you.
  • Pack a pillow/blanket for the car ride home.

Illness within 4 – 6 weeks of procedure

For your child’s safety, our policy requires that the procedure be postponed if your child has had the following symptoms or diagnoses within 4 – 6 weeks of the procedure:

  • COVID-19
  • Fever greater than 100
  • Wheezing
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Cough
  • Known exposure (TB, Measles,
    Mumps, Rubella, or Chicken Pox)
  • RSV
  • Bronchiolitis
  • Flu
  • Upper Respiratory Infection

Contact us if your child becomes sick before their procedure

Please contact Children’s Health if your child becomes ill at any time before their procedure. This notification gives you the opportunity to discuss whether your child’s surgery/procedure needs to be rescheduled.
