Biography

Beatriz MacDonald Wer, Ph.D., is a Pediatric Neuropsychologist at Children’s HealthSM and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She has a special interest in program development centered on access to services, bilingual assessment and research, genetic and neurodevelopmental disorders and training and education. 

“I am passionate about working with children and families so they can have all the necessary tools and information to seek services, school support and community resources,” she says. “I aim to connect with families and explain the results and impressions of a neuropsychological evaluation in a thoughtful and informative manner.” 

Dr. MacDonald Wer received her undergraduate degree in psychology with high honors (Magna Cum Laude) from Harvard University. She went on to earn her doctorate degree in clinical psychology at the University of Denver. During that time, she received training at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center for her clinical internship. She then completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the University of New Mexico Hospital.

Her clinical and research interests include caring for children with neurodevelopmental disorders and complex medical conditions. She has presented lectures to medical professionals across the country on developmental and neuropsychology topics such as epilepsy, bilingual assessment, supervision and training and access to services. 

Outside of work, Dr. MacDonald Wer enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family. She loves to travel and explore new cities, cultures and cuisines.
