Biography
Erica Knoll, MPAS, PA-C is a physician assistant at Children’s Health℠. She specializes in pediatric neuromuscular disorders with expertise in conditions such as spinal muscular atrophy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and congenital myopathies.
“My favorite part of pediatric neurology is the wide variety of diagnoses and the heavy incorporation of genetics,” she says. Advocating for patients that have special developmental or physical disabilities is incredibly fulfilling. I believe in emphasizing patients’ abilities rather than their limitations.”
Knoll earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from UT Southwestern. Her career began in inpatient neuro-hospitalist care before transitioning to outpatient neurology, where she now serves as an integral member of the Neuromuscular Disorders Program.
Actively involved in research, Knoll supports clinic trials focused on neuromuscular disorders and participates in gene therapy programs for spinal muscular atrophy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Her dedication to patient care and education has been recognized with multiple honors, including the 2024 Children’s Health Advanced Practice Service Quality Care Award.
Knoll is also a co-leader of the medical team for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Summer Camp Program and participates in several advocacy and awareness events for her patients. She has also collaborated in establishing patient/parent weekend workshops for neuromuscular families and has provided talks on various topics at these events.
Outside of work, Erica’s interests include traveling with her husband, reading, perfecting her manicure skills and playing with her two dachshunds.
“Advocating for patients that have special developmental or physical disabilities is incredibly fulfilling.”
