Biography
Paymon Sanati-Mehrizy, M.D. is a craniofacial and plastic surgeon at Children’s Health℠ and Assistant Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery, including cleft lip and palate; cranial vault surgery such as strip craniectomy and cranial vault remodeling; orthognathic surgery; craniofacial reconstruction; management of vascular anomalies; and management of facial trauma.
"Taking care of children is what first drew me to plastic surgery. The care children are given early on dictates what road they end up on. It's essential that these patients receive excellent care from the start," Dr. Sanati-Mehrizy says. "I want to be a part of the difference we can make in their lives and strive to develop trust, partnership, and respect at the foundation."
Dr. Sanati-Mehrizy earned his medical degree from Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Sanati-Mehrizy is actively involved in research working to improve the diagnosis and treatment of craniofacial conditions. He has contributed to multiple textbooks including Operative Dictations in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Surgical Atlas of Cleft Palate and Palatal Fistulae.
Outside of work, Dr. Sanati-Mehrizy enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter. He says becoming a parent has deepened his connection with his patients and given him a better understanding of their challenges and fears. It has also given him a deeper appreciation for services that Children’s Health offers to support entire families including therapy, social work and psychology.
“I want to be a part of the difference we can make in their lives and strive to develop trust, partnership, and respect at the foundation.”
