Biography

Pooja Desai, M.D., is a pediatric cardiologist board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. She cares for children and families at Children’s Health℠ and has special interests in congenital and acquired heart disease, preventive medicine and fetal cardiology.

Dr. Desai earned her medical degree in India. She completed her general pediatrics residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and her pediatric cardiology fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. She practiced pediatric cardiology in Wichita Kansas for 6 years prior to moving to Dallas with her family. 

Dr. Desai is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.

Dr. Desai is passionate about developing a strong personal connection with her patients and their families. “Showing compassion and being approachable helps put my patients at ease,” says Dr. Desai. “I enjoy developing a connection with those I serve.”   

Dr. Desai lives with her husband and two daughters. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new places, trying new restaurants, playing tennis and photography.
