Joe Don Cavender

Executive Advisor

Joe Don Cavender, a registered nurse, serves as an Executive Advisor for Children’s Health℠. In his role, Joe Don provides advisement on operational excellence, the patient care environment and high quality clinical competence to guide key strategic projects. Joe Don’s focus is on creating an overall patient care environment that fosters patient advocacy, high quality clinical competence, patient safety and a positive employee experience.

Prior to joining Children’s Health in 1991, Joe Don held various roles within the nursing field. Most recently, he was the Senior Vice president and Associate Chief Nursing Officer, overseeing the clinical practice of Nursing at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

Joe Don earned an Associate Degree in nursing from El Centro College in Dallas. He earned his Bachelor of Science in nursing and his master’s in nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington.
