  • Stephen LaPlante, MS, PT, ATC

    Team Leader Sports Rehabilitation

    The Team Lead Physical Therapist, Stephen graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with a master’s in Physical Therapy and a master’s in Athletic Training. He is certified in the Functional Movement Screen, Selective Functional Movement Assessment level 1, and the Functional Capacity Screen. His areas of special interest include working with sports-related injuries including ACL injuries and shoulder and elbow injuries. Stephen has given numerous lectures related to return to sports following ACL and baseball injuries, as well as injury prevention strategies

  • Kevin Auten, MPT, SCS

    Physical Therapist

    Kevin Auten headshot

    Kevin is a licensed physical therapist who graduated from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with a Masters in Physical Therapy. He is a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist and is certified in Dry Needling. He is also the Lead Physical Therapist for FC Dallas in the MLS and specializes in working with soccer players of all ages and levels. His other areas of special interest include post operative rehab of the knee including ACL injuries, foot and ankle injuries, and sports related injuries in the hip.

  • Wesley Bell M.Ed, LAT, ATC, CSCS

    Athletic Trainer

    Wesley Bell - Children's Health Andrews Institure

    An Athletic Trainer, Wesley is graduated from Western Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. He then obtained his Master of Education degree from North Carolina State University. Wesley is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist and in sound-assisted soft-tissue mobilization. His areas of special interest include developing maintenance and rehabilitation programs for the overhead athlete in a collegiate setting.

  • Dhalston Cage, PT, DPT, MS, CSCS

    Physical Therapist

    Dhalston Cage is a physical therapist at Children's Health Andrew Institute

    Dhalston is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy who received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology as well as his Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University with a focus in Exercise Physiology. During his years at A&M, he spent time as a strength and conditioning intern coach with the sports performance staff on campus. He was afforded the opportunity to work with teams including Men’s and Women’s basketball, Softball, Volleyball, Women’s soccer, Track and Field, and NFL combine prep for football athletes looking to enter the NFL draft. He then earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Angelo State University. He is also Sports Residency trained, having completed the Andrews Sport Physical Therapy Residency program during the year immediately following graduation from Physical Therapy school. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). His areas of special interest include football, basketball, soccer, sports performance, lower extremity injuries and return to sport after ACL injury.

  • Morgan Detrixhe, MAT, LAT, ATC, CAFS

    Athletic Trainer

    Morgan Detrixhe MAT, LAT, ATC, CAFS - Children's Health

    Morgan is an licensed and certified Athletic Trainer, Morgan graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. Then, she obtained his Master of Athletic Training degree from Texas Tech University Health Science Center. Her passion and areas of special interest include developing maintenance and rehabilitation programs for youth soccer.

  • Taylor Douthit, PT, DPT, SCS, OCS, CSCS

    Physical Therapist

    Taylor Douthit is an Athletic Trainer at Children's Health Andrews Institute

    Taylor is a Double-Board certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics and Sports physical therapy, as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He currently practices in the Plano location.   

    A native of McKinney, he holds the positions of full-time staff Doctor of Physical Therapy, Director for the Children’s Health Andrews Institute Sports Physical Therapy Residency and is an adjunct professor at UT Southwestern. 

    As a prior Division I Football Player at Baylor University and residency graduate of Stanford Health Care, he has a personal and professional interest in rehabilitating athletes back from complex and post-surgical injuries. 

    Taylor specializes in rehabilitation of knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, elbow, and spine injuries. During his time at Stanford, he worked closely with the football, track, and volleyball physicians and athletes, as well as with the Oakland A's and San Francisco 49ers' team physicians. 

    He is an active member of the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy, holding positions as a mentor in the Performance Enhancement and Youth Athlete Special Interest Groups. He has presented at national and local conferences, authored a book chapter on rehabilitation following knee surgery, and is a member of ARROW, a group focused on improving outcomes following ACL surgery.

    In his free time, Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, weightlifting, grilling, and coaching his daughter's soccer team. 
     

  • Nick Dobson, PT, DPT, CSCS, SCS

    Physical Therapist

    Nick Dobson Physical Therapy - Children's Health Andrews Institute

    Nick is a licensed physical therapist who received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from SUNY Geneseo and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) with additional certifications through the Titleist Performance Institute, EIM Dry Needling, Functional Anatomy Seminars (FRC/FRA/FRR) and SFMA/FMS systems.

    His areas of special interest include sports-related knee and hip injuries particularly post operative ACL and labral repair rehabilitation.

  • Rachel Duell, PT

    Physical Therapist

    Rachel Duell, PT - Children's Health

    Rachel is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology from Centenary College of Louisiana. While at Centenary, she played four years of volleyball and worked as an intern with the sports medicine department. She then earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from UT Southwestern Medical Center.

    As a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist, Rachel brings advanced knowledge and expertise to her practice, particularly in helping injured athletes return to their sports. She has furthered her skills with certifications in trigger point dry needling, The Ready State Movement and Mobility Specialist, and The Barbell Rehab Method, ensuring a comprehensive and effective approach to treatment.

    Rachel has experience working with athletes of all ages, from youth to professional. While she has a particular interest in volleyball-specific rehabilitation, other areas of special interest include football, basketball, soccer, baseball, gymnastics, and ACL injury/recovery. 

  • Adrienne Garcia MS, ATC, LAT

    Athletic Trainer

    Adrienne Garcia headshot

    Adrienne is a licensed and BOC certified Athletic Trainer, Adrienne received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from The University of Texas at Austin. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Management from the University of Central Missouri where she kicked off her 10-year collegiate Athletic Training career. She has worked in a variety of collegiate athletics programs such as The University of Texas at Austin, University of Central Missouri, Florida A&M, Rice University and University of Houston.

    Adrienne’s special interests include mental health advocacy, therapeutic rehabilitation and manual therapy interventions. Additionally, she enjoys working with youth sports, high school and collegiate athletics.  

    Adrienne currently resides in The Colony, TX, and spends her free time playing tennis, cooking and spending time with her pup Tilly.

  • Sarah Garza, OTR

    Occupational Therapist

    Sarah Garza - Occupational Therapist at Children's Health

    Sarah Garza is an Occupational Therapist who specializes in hand therapy. She graduated cum laude from Texas Women’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. She has more than fifteen years of outpatient therapy experience Sarah’s areas of special interest are upper extremity rehabilitation post traumatic injuries, hand clinic coverage, brachial plexus rehabilitation, arthritic pain, prosthetic training, and custom static/dynamic splint fabrication.

  • Benjamin Gloff, PT, DPT

    Physical Therapist

    Benjamin Gloff - Physical Therapist at Children's Health

    Ben is a licensed Physical Therapist who received his Bachelor of Science degree from Health Sciences at Baylor University and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Harding University. He is certified in selective functional movement assessment, level 1 and is EXOS Performance Specialist certified. His areas of special interest include soccer-, basketball- and baseball-specific rehabilitation, return to play after ACL injury and concussion rehabilitation.

  • Zach Harward, PT, DPT

    Physical Therapist

    Zach Harward Physical Therapist II at Children's Health

    Zach is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapist who received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Methodist University and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Southwestern. His areas of special interest include football, basketball, soccer, baseball, gymnastics, and cheerleading-specific rehabilitation, and return to sport after ACL injury.

  • Laura Henderson, PT, DPT

    Physical Therapist

    Laura Henderson headshot

    Originally a classical ballet dancer from South Florida, Laura moved to Texas to attended Southern Methodist University to study Dance. After experiencing numerous overuse injuries, she directed her studies towards a career in physical therapy. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology, Laura went on to gain her Doctor of Physical Therapy from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

     

    Laura has worked with athletes of all levels and ages from the beginner to professional league. Laura is passionate about taking sports performance principles and training methods and applying them to the world of dance. Her goal is to not only help athletes get back to their sport, but to prevent future injuries. Her educational background and experience as a dancer give her a unique and specialized approach to treating the artistic athlete.

     

  • Alexander Lopez, MS, LAT, ATC, CES

    Athletic Trainer

    A licensed and NATA certified Athletic Trainer, Alexander received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training from San Jose State University. He obtained his Master of Science degree in Rehabilitative Science from California University of Pennsylvania. Alexander’s areas of special interest incudes youth sports, high school and collegiate athletics, Olympic trials and professional football.

  • Katelyn Musil, LAT, ATC, CSCS

    Athletic Trainer

    Katelyn Musil LAT, ATC, CSCS - Children's Health

    Katelyn is a licensed and certified athletic trainer who received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Kansas State University and Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences and Sport Psychology from PennWest. She is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) with additional certifications including Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Master Dry Needling Level 1, and Graston Technique.

    Katelyn's areas of interest include collegiate and youth football injury prevention and rehabilitation, and bridging the gap between traditional rehabilitation and return to sport.

  • Holly Nieman, MS, LAT, ATC, EMT, CES

    Athletic Trainer

    A licensed and certified Athletic Trainer, Holly received her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from the Northern Michigan University and interned her senior year with NYU’s Harkness Center for Dance Injuries. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Sciences from the California University of Pennsylvania. Holly is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner and a Corrective Exercise Specialist. Holly’s areas of special interest include dance rehabilitation and community outreach.

  • Iago Pinto, PT, DPT, OCS

    Physical Therapist

    Iago Pinto PT, DPT, OCS - Children's Health

    Iago is a licensed Physical Therapist at our facility in Plano. He obtained his Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas and completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Texas Woman’s University–Houston. Following his time at TWU, he pursued an Orthopedic Residency with Memorial Hermann Rockets Sports Medicine and is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.

    Iago has had the pleasure of working with athletes of all ages and backgrounds, from professional to collegiate and high school levels. His clinical interests include post-operative knee and shoulder rehabilitation. Outside of physical therapy, he enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

  • Keaghan Schulte MS, ATC, LAT

    Athletic Trainer

    Keaghan Schulte, Physical Therapy - Children's Health Andrews Institure

    Keaghan is a licensed and board-certified athletic trainer with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Kansas. She furthered her expertise by completing a CAATE-accredited athletic training residency program at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, where she gained advanced knowledge and manual techniques in orthopedic rehabilitation. Keaghan holds certifications in both dry needling and extremity manipulations.

    Her areas of special interest include sports-related upper extremity injuries, particularly for overhead athletes, return-to-play following ACL injuries, and concussion rehabilitation. Keaghan enjoys working with athletes across a variety of sports, including softball/baseball, basketball, and football, and is passionate about helping athletes safely return to their sport at their highest level of performance.

  • Brittany Self, OTR/L, CHT

    Occupational Therapist

    Born and raised in North Carolina, Brittany Self embarked on a journey to Dallas, Texas to follow her deep-rooted passion for pediatric and sports occupational therapy, with a specialization in hand therapy. 

    Following graduation from Milligan College in Johnson City, TN. Brittany began her professional journey in the realm of general pediatric occupational therapy. Her drive and commitment to her patients spurred her to further specialize, and by 2020, she proudly attained her Board Certification in Hand Therapy. Brittany’s extensive experience encompasses treating a diverse range of patients, from children to adults.

    She possesses a refined expertise in orthosis fabrication and is adept at creating personalized interventions that cater to individual needs, facilitating a smooth transition for patients as they reintegrate into their preferred sports, work settings, and recreational activities.

  • Savannah Smith, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT

    Physical Therapist

    Savannah Smith PT, DPT, FAAOMPT - Children's Health

    Savannah Smith is a licensed physical therapist who received her Bachelor of Physiology and Kinesiology and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Florida.

    Following her time in Florida, she pursued her Fellowship of Orthopedic and Sports Manual Therapy through the Institute for Athletic Regeneration in Houston, TX. Throughout her time in school, she interned for the Pittsburgh Pirates and University of Florida Gator athletic sports. She has had the pleasure of working with athletes in all sports, including MLB, NFL, NCAA, and our local high school athletes. She is the lead physical therapist for our NFL combine program, which preps NCAA football players for the NFL Draft.

    Her professional interests include management of shoulder injuries in overhead athletes, post operative ACL rehabilitation, and return to sport rehabilitation for all sports.

  • Chris Tak, PT, DPT

    Physical Therapist

    Chris Tak - Children's Health Andrews Institute

    Chris is a licensed Physical Therapist who received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is EXOS Performance Specialist certified and Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Medical Level 2 practitioner. Chris specializes in golf rehabilitation/performance, and his other special interest includes football, soccer, basketball, concussion and return to play after ACL injury.
