Resources for your child
Children’s Health℠ is the only academic health care facility in North Texas dedicated exclusively to the comprehensive care of children from birth to age 18. We understand that kids are not just small adults, which is why the doctors on our medical staff are specially trained in treating the unique needs of young patients. Our services are not only designed to treat the physical, but also the emotional and psychological aspects of childhood illness.

School services
Frequent or lengthy hospital stays can interfere with schoolwork. We offer open classroom hours for hospitalized children and their siblings in kindergarten through 12th grade. Instruction and tutoring are provided by Texas Education Agency-certified educators with experience teaching children with medical conditions.

Child life services
The Child Life specialists at Children's Health provide age-appropriate information to help children cope with the hospital and prepare them emotionally for invasive procedures and surgery. They explain procedures in terms patients and their siblings can understand. Techniques may include engaging children in medical play by showing them how to give a teddy bear an injection or listen to its heart with a play stethoscope.
