Therapeutic Arts Program
The therapeutic arts program at Children’s Health℠ is dedicated to enhancing the psychosocial and medical care for patients and family members. We aim to create a healing environment by allowing patients and families to engage in expressive arts interventions during their hospitalization. The therapeutic arts program provides individual services to patients at the bedside and in therapeutic groups at the Dallas and Plano locations. Music and art programming is also held daily in the therapeutic arts room, located in the lobby level of Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
Music Therapy
Board-certified music therapists provide therapeutic music experiences to help patients and loved ones of all ages cope with hospitalization and improve their physical, psychological, and emotional wellbeing. Music therapists help support pain management, emotional expression, and many other goals through the medium of music in individualized sessions.
Therapeutic Arts Room (Dallas)
Located on the Lobby Level of the Dallas campus, patients and their family members can try out our full-size instruments, sing karaoke, work on an art project that is uniquely them, and let their creativity run wild! The arts room is open daily from Monday to Friday. Our music therapists can schedule an individual session for admitted patients outside of open hours. If your patient is unable to leave their room, to-go craft materials can also be provided to bedside.
Therapeutic arts groups are also held in the arts room at different times each month for patients, family members, and staff to connect and create together. Reach out to your care team or visit the arts room during open hours for more information!
