Activities for kids
Our mission at Children’s Health has always been to make life better for children. That is why we offer services and activities to our patients that are not only designed to treat the physical, but also the emotional and psychological aspects of childhood illness.
-
Art Studio
The pediatric therapeutic arts room is a calming and inspiring place that gives patients a chance to leave their hospital room to color, paint, make arts and crafts and let their imagination run wild; siblings are welcome, too.
When patients are unable to leave their rooms, we bring art supplies to them so they can create masterpieces at the bedside.
-
Library
The Family Resource Library is a quiet space for patients and families to relax, get resources or find a leisure book to enjoy. Patients can check out up to five books during their hospital stay or get a book to take home.
-
Music Therapy
During hospitalization, children often experience heightened fear and anxiety or a feeling that they lack control of their situation. Music therapy can help address these and other needs by providing opportunities for patients to make independent choices and express themselves through the medium of music. Music therapy sessions at Children’s Health are designed to help patients and their families cope with hospitalization and improve their physical, psychological, and emotional wellbeing.

Paws for Hope - Pet-Assisted Therapy Program
The Paws for Hope Pet-Assisted Therapy Program helps ease anxiety to patients in the hospital, ambulatory clinic and playrooms. The amazing power of play with a kind animal promotes positive coping in an unfamiliar or even scary environment during challenging situations.
-
Playrooms & Playgrounds
Playrooms and playgrounds provide a fun and safe place for patients and families to get out of their room to enjoy playtime.
-
Teddy Bear Clinic
Child Life specialists at Children’s use a variety of methods to help comfort children while they are at the hospital. Teddy Bear clinics allow patients space for healing and understanding as they walk in their parent’s footsteps for a day.
Children admit their beloved stuffed animals to the Teddy Bear Clinic at triage, radiology, IV poles, X-ray and surgical areas designed for the miniature patients. Patients are soon reunited with their healthy teddy bears which helps them form a new perspective on care.

Seacrest Studios
Seacrest Studios is an interactive space where young patients can explore the creative aspects of radio, television and new media. Besides giving patients the chance to learn, explore and play interactive games, the studio actually broadcasts entertainment programs in the hospital through the Children’s Red Balloon Network.
