Children's Health℠ Transition to Practice Programs make life better for children by offering professional experience and development to registered nurses new to practice. Our programs facilitate the acquisition of core knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors to increase practice confidence and development clinical competence.
Whether registered nurses are new graduate nurses or experienced nurses looking to change specialties, Children’s Health has a program to support and guide them.

ADN Apprenticeship
The Associate Degree Nurse (ADN) Apprenticeship Program at Children's Health is a series of learning and work experiences designed to assist ADN graduates transition into their professional role while completing a baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) bridge program. After completing the 12 week apprenticeship, program participants will progress to the Children’s Health CCNE accredited Nurse Residency Program.

Nurse Residency
The Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program is a yearlong residency built upon evidenced-based curriculum. During the program, nurse residents will participate in a series of learning and work experiences that are geared toward transition to a competent professional. At the end of the program, nurse residents will have improved confidence, competence, prioritization, communication skills and decreased stress levels.

RN Fellowship
The RN Fellowship Program is for experienced (1 year+) clinical RNs looking to change specialties. Whether you're looking to move from adults to pediatrics, or from any clinical setting into a critical care, cardiology, hematology, or oncology setting, our RN Fellowship Program is designed to assist you on that journey and help you grow within your nursing career.

Transition to Practice programs is supported with a dedicated, expert team of professionals within Clinical Learning and Patient Education, a part of the Learning and Leadership Institute.

- A centralized, multidisciplinary clinical education department with over 40 clinical educators and training consultants, as well we a robust simulation team
- Subject matter experts across the enterprise from clinical operations, nursing services and nursing excellence, patient safety and quality, and finance
- Clinical professionals in unique and specialized roles to contribute to the continuous development and evaluation of training at the bedside
Through this robust group, new team members are given the training, resources, and experiences contributing to a successful transition into their professional role.
