Pediatric Residency Program

Welcome to the Pediatric Residency Training Program. Our three-year, ACGME-accredited program is sponsored by the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in partnership with Children’s Health, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and designated community-based practices. Our goal is to develop the next generation of outstanding pediatricians through hands-on clinical experience, cultivation of critical thinking skills and educational experiences designed to advance career goals. We welcome you to explore this website to learn more about our program and download the program brochure.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to educate, cultivate, and empower our trainees to become excellent independent physicians and future leaders in pediatrics.

Program Aims

To educate residents in clinical reasoning and critical thinking substantiated by an adept command of pathophysiology, disease mechanism, and health management.

To cultivate physicians who advocate for high quality equitable care for ALL children through durable bonds with our diverse community and partner organizations, and by investing in the development of pediatricians who embody diversity, respect, and cultural humility.

To provide individualized training opportunities that empower residents with the skills to become future leaders in clinical care, innovative research, community health, medical education, and other spheres of influence dedicated to child health.

Our Program

Sponsored by UT Southwestern and based primarily at Children's Medical Center and Parkland Hospital in Dallas, the Pediatric Residency Program provides a broad and diverse educational experience of the highest quality. Our affiliation with world-renowned academic institutions and hospitals, location in the heart of the country’s fourth largest (and rapidly growing) metropolitan area, and flexibility in providing training experiences tailored for diverse career paths, make ours a unique and intellectually invigorating program.

Learn more about what sets our program apart, including facilities, curriculum, conferences, research, advocacy, global health and special tracks. The specific program offerings featured on our website are just a sample of the many opportunities residents may experience during their training  and development here.

Our People

Our residents come from all over the world with a wide range of backgrounds and interests. They are supported by an engaged program director, four dedicated chief residents, program staff and more than 250 faculty members who serve as clinicians, educators and researchers. Graduates of our residency program are competitive for fellowships at top programs and careers in every field.

Resident Life

When you join our Pediatric Residency Program, you truly join a family. Over the course of three years, our residents become a close-knit group, supporting and caring for each other, celebrating each other’s successes and having fun together. While we work hard to learn and grow, we also place a high value on a healthy work-life balance. The Dallas-Fort Worth region is modern, diverse, vibrant and rapidly growing with a high standard of living at an affordable cost.
