Language and interpreter services
For families who do not speak English, talking to nurses and doctors about their child’s illness can be challenging – so we offer interpretation services free of charge.
Language interpretation services
All Children's Health℠ staff members have access to interpreting services for talking with their Limited-English Proficiency (LEP) patients, no matter the language. Language interpretation services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Interpretation is available in Spanish, American Sign Language (ASL) and many other spoken and sign languages. If you require the assistance of an interpreter, please notify your provider's office so that arrangements can be made for you to have the appropriate language services provided.
For all languages, other options available are over-the-phone interpreting services through two contracted vendors for over 100 spoken languages. InSight Video Interpreting®
In addition, Children’s Health has implemented InSight Video Interpreting. This all-inclusive device provides access to video interpreters for more than 35 languages and audio interpreters for more than 200 languages, helping staff members better communicate with patients and families.
These interpreter-on-wheels (IOW) are able to provide a video/audio communication allowing patient's families to hear, see and talk to a remote interpreter live.
Remember, your child’s care team is always available to help. If you have questions or need more information, please feel free to ask.
