Pediatric snoring
Pediatric snoring is a sound that happens when a child breathes in and out during sleep.
What is pediatric snoring?
Snoring may happen when a child has a sleep disorder or breathing problem. The sound is due to when the opening and closing of the air passage at the back of the mouth causes the throat, tongue, tonsils and adenoids to vibrate.
What are the signs and symptoms of pediatric snoring?
Symptoms may include:
Behavioral and attention problems
Breathing that stops for a few seconds at a time during sleep
Breathing through the mouth only
Difficult to wake in the morning
Makes snuffling or snoring noises during sleep
Hyperactive behavior when awake
Irritability from lack of quality sleep
Loud breathing during sleep
Sweating during sleep
